Script for The tea and toast show

For The tea and toast show i created a script, i found that we needed a brief outline of what to say next and help the presenters with what to discuss about on the show.

I created the script for the tea and toast show which georgie then put into a running order.

PLAY (11) First kiss- Florence and the machines

I found the script quite easy to write as weve wrote many scirpts before for radio and televison. The thing i found difficult was making sure i didnt come across too cheesy as you would tell its scripted which doesnt sound that great. The great thing about radio is you can improvise on the spot which means scripts are not really nessarsiry however having an outline of what to talk about is a great way to make sure the show flows and doesnt come to a silence.

Logo for Tea and Toast & The encore show

Here is our logo for tea and toast. The logo represents the style of the show as its a breakfast show weve used a cup to represnt the morning cup of tea in the morning. We thought this was a great idea for the logo as it represents alot about breakfast in the morning. Laura and Millie created the this logo using photo shop, The photo was took of lauras hand and the tea and toast name was added which we felt was really clever. We also took photos of the team drinking out of a cup to add to our cross media. I will upload a couple of the photos to the post of cross media.

Download Logo The ...jpg (91.8 KB)

This is the logo for our second show 'The Encore Show' we felt this logo really represtns what the show is all about by using the spolight justs gives the whole logo the performance look that we was looking for as our show is based on musicals. The logo was created by the presenter of the show emse. We feel the logo is great for our show and will show the audience what its all about.

Cross Media For Tea and toast & Encore show

The Tea and Toast Show

For the cross media task i decided to create a short film of the teas journey for the tea and toast show. What the idea for the short film was a montage of clips of the teas adverntures without toast. This would then be put onto the Youtube and Facebook for our fans of the show. I took many shots of the tea in many diffrent places. I put the the montage onto soundtrack wehre i would add a funny soundtrack to match the style of the footage. Unfortantely the pictures from the footage didnt save which means the photos were set at offline. This ment my footage was lost and the film was ruined. After i did loose my film but still felt i tried to produce a film for our web pages. I am still going to create a short little film of the group in production or maybe create something fun for youtube. i created something fun for youtube because i felt like it links in with the style of the show and adds a fun spin to things for the shows audience.

Promo

Myself, Laura,Sam and James took part in creating the promotional video for tea and toast. The promo is of Sam , Adele and i  the presenters of the show. Sam and i who took part in the main setting of the promo. The idea of the show is a breakfast show which links in with the title ( Tea and toast ) we start the promo off with myself and sam rushing round doing the daily moring routine of getting ready. This is cut inbetween studio footage of the rest of the crew. The idea is myself and sam are late for the show and adele the 3rd presenter is waiting on us. We felt this would be really funny for the audience to see who the presenters actually are and will entertain are fans who want to get involved with our facebook page etc.

The Encore show.

We have created a facebook page for The encore show which fans to become a part of. On our page we have updates about the show and when we will be on air. We also will be putting little competetions which will be more the listeners they can listen in and send us a facebook comment about a song or fact on the show. We have used facebook to capture a wide audience due to the fact mainly everybody is using this social networking site. We have created little quizes on facebook for the fans of the show we have acted a few lines from a musical and the listeners will have to guess the musical from the lines they hear. They can comment on the video upload or message us and we will broadcast their answers live. We felt this would be a great idea to recieve some audience participation and even bring in more listeners.

To email the show we have created a hotmail account which will be for the listeners and they can email into the show with their quieres or anything they would like to say to the show. The email address will be read out during the show and told to the listeners for them to get involved.

We can evaluate are work on;

Tea And Toast playlist

This is the playlist for the tea and toast show.

This is the playlist for the our morning show The tea and Toast show. The songs for the show were chosen to make sure they were popular songs but not necessarily in the top ten at the moment. The songs ollie chose were upbeat and cheery which could be enjoyed by everyone but mainly great for in the morning. Ollie came back to us with the songs he picked  and as a group we agreed or disagreed. I feel the songs were great for the style of show weve created. Theres 2 songs on the playlist which are from an older generation but still upbeat to stick with the style of the show. The last songs were chosen because the presenters could then chat about the songs and entertain the listeners as they are old but classic songs from the past.

Radio shows ( The Encore show & tea and toast )

Musical show:
         The Encore Show

For our first radio show we are creating a musical based radio show called The Encore show. This radio show will consist of songs and features from musicals. We have taken the idea of the musical radio show from the Elaine page show on BBC radio. The target audience we believe for this show is focused on a more older audience. we believe this is because the older generation will know a lot more musicals than a younger audience. The features we are going to use are going to be musical reviews, musical interview at a theatre and the life of muso. The presenters pitch will very slow which will also target the older audience and will also be formal and well spoken to keep in style with the target audience.
The show will also be very Direct because we will be talking to the listeners and there is also one presenter which means the presenter hasn't got co presenters to chat with and will only introduce the features, songs and news to keep the show at a direct and formal style.

The elaine page show on BBC radio and is a very similar show that we have compared the musical show with due to the fact we play similar songs that the show has and is a musical based show which we are trying to create. We are also having one female presenter ( Esme ) which is also similar to the elaine page show. The only difference we want to create in the show is we want to be more creative and exciting which we dont think the elaine page show comes across as. For the assignment we believe that we had to make 2 completely different radio shows which will be for a different audience thats why we have chosen this style to target an older audience which are other radio station will not.

Chart show:

Tea and toast

The second show we are going to produce is going to be a breakfast chart show. The radio show will consist of music from the charts at the moment and will include features of a comical nature. We will be using a prank call feature which will be very funny and will help liven up the listeners early in the morning. We will be using a happy/ informal and chatty presenter which will target all audiences however through our research we gathered we thought the target audience would be particularly towards 16 year olds to 24 years this is mainly because of the music we are going to play will be for more a younger audience.
The show will be indirect as there will be co presenters with the main presenter who will be chatting throughout them selves about recent events and having a laugh among themselves. The presenters pitch will be quite fast paced and bubbly which will make it easy for people to feel cheerful and happy when listening to someone whose enjoying themselves.   We will talk to the audience about what they think about a major headline etc but most of the chat will be amongst the presenters which is under an indirect and informal style.

The show will be linked with the natural conventions of a breakfast radio show. we wanted to create show which is similar to how Chris Moyles breakfast show is created however add slight differences to keep the show our own and fun for the viewers.

Radio Analysis

Radio 1 ( Annie mac )
The Annie Mac show on radio 1 is a music based show which is presented on a friday night at 7:00pm till 9:00pm and is a "warm up for the weekend". The show is played at a prime time of when people are on their way out on a friday night or even staying in and getting excited for the weekend. The show is very upbeat and fresh. The target audience for this show is around 16-26 due to the fact the presenter is a popular young character and that comes across in her show. by researching into her show i found out that her show was played at the time of the night fo when the weekend starts which is exactly what wold attract younger audiences becuase they will be going out and enjoying themselves.

The presenter annie mac uses alot of mini mixies and Djs in her shows which also helps become more popular as alot of young listeners enjoy the djs songs played on her show. the show is played live every friday but is kept on her webpage until the next show is played. You can also download podcasts which is again targeted towards younger people as they enjoy having them on their phones/ipods.
The show uses vibrant idents which are loud and cheerful which represent the style of the show being exciting and fun. The first ident heard on the show was " Radio 1 with annie mac, the only place to be on a Friday night!" To use a bold introduction will catch the attention of the listeners straight away and will make them want to listen. Just listening to the ident at the start griped me straigt away and  kind of tells us already of how the shows trying to target a certain audience by the way its being said. The presenter talks in a chatty, bubbly tone but has long pauses due to the fact the song playing in the background is the next song being played on air. Annie mac is very known for her grear djing skills and is great for talking about the genres of songs etc thats why her show uses alot of varitey of music. Anybody who enjoys dance/base/house music would love this station however the fact the presenter is of a younger age immediatley focuses on the younger audience.

ASDA FM online

Asda fm Live in store Radio

In store asda have created there own radio station which is then played throughtout while customers are shopping. They introduce charts old and new which is great to target diffrent audiences. Its very clever how they have created their own station as not many retailers do this they would play a cd with songs on. This station influences shoppers to by a particular product as they talk about whats on specail offer in the store or what meals can be made from a low cost which is great for targeting paretns shopping for familys. I think the target audience for this station is for families and people betwee 20- 50. This is because i believe students will be looking for low costs food which is presented on air and how to make quick easy meals. Also parents for family meals looking for non expensive meals to cook at home.

The presenter uses a very formal tone to his voice which is great for informing customers of whats in store. However aswell as being quite formal he uses a happy and cheerful tones throughout. This is because he is trying to focus on making the customers feel at ease when shopping around and at the same time introducing them to what theve got in store. I feel this is an advantage to asda that they have introduced a live radio as not many stores do this which i think is a great idea.

This show is completey diffrent to annie macs show. This is becuase the target audience are completey diffrent by the way the presenter talks, music on the show and the overall style. The asda radio also doesnt involve soundbeds which annie macs show does which also links in with what audience they are tryin to capture and how they entertain that audience.

BBC Asian Network
This is a show brought to you from bbc called Asian network. The show i will be talkin about is the weekend morning shows.
The soundbed behind the presenter is asian music which links in with the style of the show which is " asian network". The presenter has an aisian accent which then again fits in with the style of the show, being aisian also helps the audience feel the link of aisian music which all fits in with each other. He also speaks quite slowly but at a face pace which tells me hes focusing on a target audience of around 27- 48, They also use idents which are quite and not in your face like " Good morning" " welcome" ect
The songs played are of a wide varitety, slow and fast which is great for everyone. The start of the shows song is very slow which is becasue its a morning show and is slowly waking up the listeners. The songs then gradually become more upbeat as the morning progresses.

This show is very diffrent to the two other shows ive anaylised as the presenter, music and overall styles are compllety diffrent which also make therye target audiences diffrent.

Radio and Televison Research

How to Create a Radio Playlist.

A playlist is a list of recordings which will be played throughout a duration of time (radio show). The playlist can hold up to hundreds of songs on one playlist. The songs held on the playlist can be played more than once depending on how popular the song is. Each radio stations are diffrent depending on what type of station it is, For example radio 1 and Galaxy will have very simular songs played throughout the show becuase of the style and popularity of the show and they are chart shows so they will play what songs are in the charts. However radio stations like bbc 4 and bbc wm will be more older and  wider range of music as they are less popular and also for an older audience.
Commerical radio stations hold a typical playlist of about 400-500 tracks and more smaller stations have around 200 tracks which are played. The bbcs local radio sations have typical of a big 900 tracks on their playlists which is a huge number of songs that would be played. This number kind of shows how popular the BBCs radio stations are that they need 900 songs and they believe they wont a variety of tracks to keep the ranges of audiences intregued.
To creat a playlist you will need to choose what songs you want to broadcast on the show. You would then need to download them tracks and import them onto myriad which then can be sorted into an order of when they would be played. Writing down the order of the songs b efore arranging them would be a clever as it wouldnt waste any time and would be done quie quickly.

Research into platforms for Broadcasting.

Platforms For broadcasting in Shop/stores

When playing music in public enviromentS wether its radio, cds or televisions its important that the store have completed the liecensing processes before they can contiue playing the music. Stores believe it can boost sales from the costumers when music/radio is played and also draw them into the store. Playing music in retail is now known by most retailers and is played from world wide conglomartes to small local stores.
There are many licences they will need to cover before they can continue playing there music in there shops.

"Any location or premises, outside of home, where music is played from clubs to concert halls, from discos to dentists’ waiting rooms and from trains to takeaways. The owner/proprietor of the premises is normally responsible for obtaining a Music Licence for the public performance of copyright music."

Asda (SHOP RADIO)

ASDA FM online
Asda have created there own radio station where they play music which is on the chartss and also older tracks which is great for diffrent audiences. However the big diffrence between this radio station and every other station is that instead of using adverts for other buisnesses they just use the adverts to advertise there own stock in store. This can help improve sales by telling the customers in the store whats on special offer and the sale items etc. Listening to theyre radio gives you ideas of what ingredients could make a meal which is great for familys which is the main audience that come into the store. Asda is a huge supermarket and this is why they believe it would be better to create their own station, other stores play songs on a cd which they believe fits in with the style of the store but dont advertise any of their stock which asda have the advantage of.

PPL ( Public Performers Licence ):

The PPL licence is vey important within playing music to the public. What the PPL licence does is allow radio stations, internet radios and televisions play sound recordings within their transimittions. The licence also allows shops, resturants and night clubs to play recordings and music videos within their businesses. The law is required to issue the businesses with their PPL licence.

http://www.ppluk.com/en/Music-Users/MakingMusicWorkForYou/
The link above is taken from the PPL website and has an online survey taken from the public on how they enjoy or dont enjoy music played in stores. I found this survery useful because it shows alot about what people think about how musics broadcasted and how it makes them feel. They have seperate files which would can viewed by each business to choose which licence they would ask the company for as they have diffrenent liences based on what kind of recordings you want to broadcas. The link below is a pdf file taken from the PPL website which is a more detailed view of how to play sound recoridings in shops:
http://www.ppluk.com/files/tariffs/PPLPP211.PDF

PRS (Perfomers rights society) & MCPS (Mechanical copyright protection society):

When playing original recordings the PRS and MCPS can issue you a licence which will allow you to play the music. If you wanted to broadcast sound recodings only the PPL can issue you these. If you wanted to broadcast a cover version of a song you Would need to contact the MCPS as they can only issue you that licence. The MCPS has been marketed under the name of the PRS but however close they work together they are seperate entities.

''MCPS does not license the right for you to press CDs featuring original sound recordings owned by other record companies. Rights in these recordings are controlled by individual record comapnies and you should approach them direct for licensing information.''

The PRS website explains that within the licence recorded tracks have rights which needed to be taken into account before contacting the company for your licence, The website explains more in details ( Check bibliography).

"Every recorded track has two rights:

1. a copyright in the musical and lyrical composition (administered by PRS for Music for public performance, broadcasting and online and MCPS for physical products, broadcasting and online).
2. a separate copyright in the actual sound recording (administered by MCPS if you are using production music, the sound recording owner if you using commercial music on a physical product (typically the record company which released it originally) and PPL for public performance and airplay.)
