Here is the running order for The encore show which was created by the presenter Esme. We discussed as a group the links and what features we were involving into the show which where then added onto the running to make sure they were played on time within the script and were introduced correctly.

Ive purposely picked out from the RAJAR website a couple of figures that are relevant to our shows and also my radio analysis. Our shows are very similar to the radio 1 show in the morning (tea and toast) and radio 2s elaine page show on a sunday(the encore). 

 Radio 1 

This radio station has been analyzed in my radio analysis from the annie mac show. There's a total of 23% of listeners who tune into BBC Radio 1. There isn't the listening figures for the annie mac show however they have the total BBC listeners and the radio 1 figures  which can estimate how many people listen to the show. Are second show Tea and Toast is a chart show and similar to the morning breakfast show by Chris Moyles. We felt this would be a great show to take our ideas from because of how popular it is and how many listeners the BBC receive.

Radio 2 

We took our second shows inspiration off the BBC Radio 2 show with Elaine Paige this is because of the style of show she presents. She uses musicals in her show which is very similar to our show. BBC Radio 2 figures have 27% of the listeners which is slightly higher than BBC Radio 1 which is why we felt that it would be great for the inspiration of our shows. Both radio 1 and radio 2 have a high percentage of listeners which is why it would be great for our group to involve some of their style into our shows. 

Asian Network 

This radio station is also part of the BBC and is also what i analyzed in my radio analysis. The listening figures for this radio station was just 1% which is a huge gap between the other BBC stations. I thought it would be a great station for me to analyzed due to the fact the music, presenters and style of the show and is very different from the other shows i analyzed.

Primary Research

For both of our radio shows we had to complete questionares for the public about how, when and what radio shows they listen to. This was done because we needed to create our audience profiles. The questionares were completed by hand then entered into a excell document which would then be created into graphs individually.

The 1st graph below is the total questionare answers recieved from the pulbic. The question was asking name your top 3 favorite musicals. The graph shows how many people chose one musical. This question/graph will help us when creating our playlists for the show because we choose the most popular songs to be played on the show to attract a bigger audience.

The second graph shows the times the the public are most likely to listen too. The graph shows that the most lilely time that the public will listen is moring till afternoon. This is great for us to determien when we broadcast our show to atract as much of an audience as possible.

 

This graph below was the results from the questions that we took from the public for the tea and toast show. What the graph tells us it the amount of people who listen to radio at what time. We are creating a morning breakfast show and from the information we gathered it shows that more people listen to the morning radio than the evening. This helps us understand that we will gain more listeners creating a moring show than an evening one.

This graph shows the amount of people who listen to what radio station. We have taken a simular route from the chris moyles radio 1 breakfast show. We did this because its very popular and a great style of show. As you can see by the graph radio1 has the most listeners which means its great for us because weve taken the radio 1 path.

Format

We are going to record this show onto Myriad and also broadcast it on Ustream so there is an online copy available. 

Our prank call feature will be recorded onto a Zoom mp3 recorder and edited on Soundtrack Pro.

Duration

The duration of this show will be exactly one hour long. We will be able to do this, as we will rehearse the show before hand and time all the links. Also the scheduler on Myriad will allow us to keep track of the time.

Intended Audience

Our Tea and Toast show is targeting an audience of 16- 24 year olds. The presenting style and the features will therefore appeal to this age group.  The show will be broadcasted around college and advertised on facebook and therefore will reach our target audience.

Synopsis

Our show is going to be presented by Sam, Adele and Amy. As the programme is music based the main content of the show will be the music. We have decided to play tracks that are modern and popular.

We have two features for our show. Know Your Lyrics is when one sentence of a song is said and then the contestants have to guess the next lyric. We choose to have the competitors making an animal noise when they want to make a guess, as this will add another humorous element to the game. We decided to get Millie to present this feature as then it’s different voice for the listeners and allows all three presenters to play along and therefore create more of a competition. We chose this feature as it allows the audience to play along. This feature is going to be live, as this will create a better competitive mood.

Our other feature is a prank call one. Adele or Sam are given 5 words that they have to fit into a phone conversation. This feature will be pre-recorded so that it can be edited so that it’s shorter and all content is suitable.

The content of our links will be informal and relaxed with subjects such as what listeners are having for breakfast.

Style

The style of the show will be informal and chatty. As the show has three presenters it will be very conversational with hopefully some humour.

Rationale

We decided to do a show in the style and for this audience, as we believe that, as we fit into the target audience ourselves, we can create an enjoyable show for this audience. If the presenters are enjoying themselves then the audience will realise this and hopefully enjoy the show too.

Feasibility

This show idea is possible as there is an existing audience and they are easy to reach as the show is going to be broadcasted around the college and the students fit into the age group. The show should be easy to make as we

We will not need a budget for this show, as all the equipment is available from college.

Intended audience

The primary audience for this show would be middle age women as this group of people enjoy watching and going to musicals, on our ‘test run’ we found that the ladies in the zone (ages 45+) really enjoyed the music and we got some very good feedback from them. However our secondary audience would be people of all ages as everyone enjoys musicals in some form of medium. We found that in our rehearsals we had lots of people singing along and dancing to the well known classics.

Style

As the show’s content is very similar to that of Elaine Page’s BBC 2 show we have chosen to make the style very similar too. We are doing that by having mainly music, a female presenter and lots of facts about each different musical. We also have a interview with a ‘actress’ which is also featured on the BBC 2 show.

Rationale

We believe our show is something different, a style that no one else had chosen to use for children in need. It will be a good ‘break’ from all of the current music and conversation. Musicals are for all ages and we play music that everyone appreciates.

Feasibility

We think this radio show is very feasible as there is such a wide audience for it, it is fun and exiting.

The presenters of a radio show play a huge role due to the fact they have to hold the show together. Everyones job role in creating a show is very important but talking to the radio and making sure your understood by the listeners is a large resonsiblity. Sam is a very well spoken member of our group and can improvise when in pressure. Myself and Adele have a great sense of humor so i believe we can make the listeners laugh and feel at ease. When choosing the presenters for a radio show its a task we need to make sure fits with the style of the show. For example if the show is for an older audience and older more sophisticated presenter would be more suitable.
An example off choosing a presenter to the style of the show would be like The annie mac show, as shes young, fun and chatty its stuck to the style of the show which is young and fresh. I have discussed this in my radio analysis.

For our second show the encore show as a group we decided to choose Esme as the main presenter of the show. We thought she would e the best role for the presenter due to her soft voice and is well spoken. The show is live so we will be doing as many rehearsals as possible to recieve the best outcome possible. Weve made sure Esme talks slowly and clear for our target audience which are older than or first show. The show is about muscials and the facts which is great for all ages but partiulary for the older audience and the musicals are much older. The presenter will need to make sure she is composed thoughtout the whole of the show and keeps to the pace we wanted to portray. I believe the presenter wil determine our audience so hopely Esme will pull this off and gain as much audience participation as possible.
